PROJECT OVERVIEW
Leverone Fieldhouse is 91,800 square feet building with an arched roof. The building houses an indoor track, weight room, and dedicated practice space for the golf teams and is being used as an indoor training site for the college’s athletic programs.
SCOPE DESCRIPTION
ICO was retained by Dartmouth College to provide commissioning services for the Leverone Fieldhouse building. The scope of work included conducting site visits, observing equipment startup, and completing functional performance testing. Major systems tested included the new energy recovery units, fan coil units, exhaust fans, and lighting controls, among others. The goal was to confirm that all systems were operating as intended and ready for use ahead of the academic year.
ACTIONABLE INSIGHTS
During commissioning, it was discovered that the warm-up mode for the energy recovery units was not meeting the design intent. In cold weather conditions, the ERUs were tripping on freeze protection because the hot water coils were programmed to open after a five-minute delay. At ICO’s recommendation, this delay was shortened, and the issue was resolved.
