As a Mechanical Engineer with ICO Energy and Engineering, John performs a wide variety of Commissioning, Recommissioning, Qualification, and Validation services, as well as Focused Energy Studies. His knowledge and experience enable the firm to consistently deliver custom solutions that advance the goals and agendas of a wide range of clients in the Greater Boston area
John learned the fundamentals of thermodynamics, heat transfer, fluid mechanics, and mechanical design through his mechanical engineering coursework at UMass. He worked as a tutor and ExSEL Leader for the UMass Learning Resource Center where he led one-on-one and group tutoring sessions in a variety of subjects including calculus, physics, and several engineering courses. He also worked as a teaching assistant for “System Dynamics” under Professor Koroush Danai and “Coding for Mechanical Engineering” under Professor Matthew Lackner.
After graduating from UMass, John worked as a quality inspector, inspecting machined components and assemblies intended for surgical use to ensure compliance with internal and legal standards. Immediately prior to joining ICO, John was a mechanical assembly technician at a Cambridge-based startup designing an X-Ray/CT machine for industrial inspection. John was responsible for performing a variety of mechanical maintenance activities, including assembling machines; helping build test setups for R&D; developing and implementing shop organizational procedures; properly handling and disposing of lead; and developing time study procedures. These experiences have taught John valuable analytical and technical skills that continue to inform his approach as an Energy/Commissioning Engineer at ICO.
